VeraBank debit cards are switching to Visa in early 2025!

In our ongoing commitment to always provide you with the best services and benefits, we're excited to announce that VeraBank debit cards will transition from Mastercard® to Visa®. Our goal is to make this switch as seamless as possible and keep you well informed along the way. 

As the transition approaches, we will post updates to this page. Stay tuned for more details and be on the lookout for your new Visa debit card in early 2025. 

We have compiled a collection of Frequently Asked Questions to cover most topics but if you have additional questions, feel free to contact us at 877-566-2621, via online request, or visit your local branch.

 

When will I get my new VeraBank Visa debit card?

New debit cards will begin mailing in early 2025. You will receive an email notification when your debit card ships. Please be sure we have your current email address on file. You can check by visiting the nearest VeraBank location or logging in to Online or Mobile Banking.

Is there anything I need to do to receive my new card?

In order to ensure a smooth transition to your new Visa debit card, please verify your phone number, email address, and mailing address. You can check your contact information in Online Banking or by calling Customer Service at 877-566-2621 or visiting your nearest VeraBank location.

All customers will receive a new Visa debit card in the mail in early 2025.

What are the benefits of the new Visa debit card?

Our new debit card design is vertical making it easier to tap or insert into a chip reader. This layout gives the card a sleek, clean look, with all your information conveniently located on the back. The new debit card includes many of the exciting and convenient features you’re accustomed to having such as contactless tap-to-pay, mobile wallet, card management and controls, ATM and ITM access, and much more.

Can I confirm the mailing address you have on file for me is correct prior to you sending me my new card?

Yes, please confirm the mailing address we have on your account is current. 

You can verify your address in Online Banking by:

  1. Login
  2. From the Menu, go to Settings
  3. Go to Profile Update
  4. Here you can verify and update your physical address.

You may also call Customer Service at 877-566-2621 or visit your nearest VeraBank branch.

For business address verification, please speak with your account administrator.

When should I cut up my current VeraBank Mastercard debit card?

You should destroy your old Mastercard debit card after you have activated your new Visa debit card, as well as used it at least once to confirm it works.

What will happen with my old card?

Your Mastercard debit card will be disabled and no longer work as soon as you activate your new Visa debit card or 30 days after your new Visa card is issued, whichever occurs first.

How do I activate my new Visa debit card?

Please follow the instructions attached on the front of your Visa debit card. If you have any issues activating your new Visa debit card, please contact VeraBank Customer Service at 877-566-2621 or visit your nearest VeraBank branch.

What will my new Visa debit card look like?

Will my PIN stay the same?

No, your personal identification number (PIN) will change. However, you will have the option to select a PIN of choice.

Will my debit card number change?

Yes, your new Visa debit card will have a different number than your old Mastercard debit card.

Why is VeraBank making this change?

We are committed to bringing you the best features and functionality to make banking easy. Visa debit cards will be equipped with all the exciting and convenient features you are accustomed to receiving. 

The new vertical design will make it easier to tap or insert into a chip reader, plus the sleek, clean look with all your information conveniently located on the back.

Will my new Visa debit card have tap-to-pay capability?

Yes. Your new Visa debit card can be used for tap-to-pay, the speediest and most secure way to pay. With its chip-enabled security features, you can also insert-to-pay.

What if I have auto payments set up on my card?

Your new Visa debit card will have a new card number. So, any auto payments tied to your debit card number will need to be updated with your new card information. Please note, your bank account number will not change. So, any payments utilizing your routing and account number will not be affected.

What about digital wallets or other payment apps (i.e., PayPal®, Venmo®, Amazon®) where I have my debit card saved?

Your new Visa debit card will have a new card number. So, any merchants where your card is on file (is saved, or stored) will need to be updated with your new card information. Please note, your bank account number will not change. So any payments utilizing your routing and account number will not be affected.

I recently received a new VeraBank Mastercard debit card. Will I still be getting a new card?

Yes. In order to minimize customer impact and ensure excellent customer service, new Visa debit cards will be issued to all of our customers over the course of several months in early 2025. So, please continue to use your Mastercard debit card until your new Visa debit card arrives.

Is Visa accepted everywhere Mastercard is?

Visa is generally accepted by the same merchants in more than 200 countries worldwide.

What do I need to do once I get my new Visa debit card in the mail?

Please activate and begin using your new Visa debit card immediately. Activate by following the instructions on the front of your new Visa debit card.

Can my local VeraBank branch print a new card for me?

All customers will receive a new Visa debit card in the mail. Once you receive your new card, if you have any issues or concerns with the card, our in-branch team would be happy to assist you with printing a card.

Will I be getting a new VeraBank credit card too?

No. Your VeraBank Visa credit card will remain the same.

Will the debit card conversion impact my Christmas item returns? Will a credit process on my old Mastercard debit card?

Most return credits should not be affected, as credits can post to a closed debit card.

If my debit card expires at the end of December, will I automatically receive a Visa debit card replacement?

You will receive a Mastercard replacement mid-December to use until you are issued a new Visa debit card in 2025.

Will my debit card be updated in Card Management automatically?

Yes, your Mastercard debit card will be removed, and your new Visa debit card will appear automatically within Card Management. There is no action needed on your part. You’ll notice the debit card image will update to display the new vertical card design as well.

Will my new Visa debit card be automatically added to SecurLOCK Equip?

No, you will need to add your new Visa debit card into SecurLOCK Equip. For questions about SecurLOCK, please contact Customer Service.

Will my new Visa debit card be automatically added to CardSwap?

No, because debit cards are only added and removed from CardSwap by the customer. You will simply swap out your Mastercard debit card information with your new Visa debit card information. Click here for CardSwap instructions.

Can I choose not to have my Mastercard debit card replaced with a Visa debit card?

No, because VeraBank is ending its relationship with Mastercard. We are committed to always providing you with the best services and benefits, and we're excited to make this transition from Mastercard® to Visa®.
