VeraBank Builds New Conroe Team

June 24, 2022

Conroe, TX (June 24, 2022) – VeraBank welcomes Andrew Cantu and Hope Robinson to its new team of bankers in Conroe. Cantu will serve as Senior Vice President of Commercial Lending and Robinson as Vice President of Branch Operations.

“We are proud to welcome two exceptional bankers, both of whom have extensive community banking backgrounds in Conroe and Montgomery County. I am confident that we are building a strong team, the right team, for VeraBank to be successful in this market,” said Senior Vice President – Regional Manager Joel Jackson.

“In 2018 we opened a Loan Processing Office (LPO) in College Station, which quickly grew into a fast growing and highly successful full-service branch,” said VeraBank President and CEO Brad Tidwell. “We are excited to take this next step toward continued growth in the Southeast Texas market and look forward to opening a new LPO, and eventually a full-service branch, in Conroe later this summer.”

Cantu brings a wealth of experience in commercial lending and prior to joining VeraBank, served as Regional President at Spirit of Texas Bank Conroe. He graduated from University of Houston with a bachelor's degree in finance and earned a master's degree in finance from University of Houston - Clear Lake City. Cantu is also a graduate of the Southwest Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University. Cantu is heavily involved in the community, currently serving as Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Lifetime Vice President, Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce Treasurer, and Greater Conroe Economic Development Director. He is also a member of the Conroe Noon Lions Club and Montgomery County Fair Past President and Past Chairman of the Board. On weekends he can be found enjoying golf, hunting and spending time at his property in Carmine.

Robinson's banking career spans nearly three decades and includes experience at community banks of all sizes, from $80 million to more than $3 billion in assets. She has been involved in many aspects of banking, including bank chartering, mergers and acquisitions, organic growth and expansion, facilities and lobby services. Robinson is from nearby Huntsville, where her family owned the local Piggly Wiggly grocery stores. She enjoys the great outdoors, hunting and fishing, and is a life-long golfer.
